The Minnesota Licensed Family Child Care Association is currently not hosting a Winter Break Conference for 2005. The Week of the Young Child Conference in Willmar, MN on April 9th, 2005. We had a great time at the MLFCCA Winter
Break Conference. We were
impressed with the hospitality, the hotel, and the town of Rochester. I want to
thank the Kahler Hotel in Rochester. The service and facility was
wonderful. Also all the vendors who helped make the conference an enjoyable
event. Many providers come for the shopping as much as the education.
And thanks to the speakers and presenters, without you there is no educational
conference. Lastly, thanks to the child care providers who came and
participated. I hope you enjoyed yourself and learned some things.
And to the kids who made the luau great fun! I hope to see you again!
Some of the responses included:
The MLFCCA was pleased with our first "Winter Break" Conference... A luxurious hotel, good food, lots of fun, some great speakers and workshops, a chance to network with old friends, or make new ones, and a time to relax either by yourself or with the entire family.
Keynote Presenters: Colleen Hannafin has been a clinician for teacher workshops for the past twenty years. Since 1992, she has written and performed educational recordings with her partner Brian Schellinger. Colleen has also written and taught early childhood music courses at Chippewa Valley Technical College, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and at satellite sites, as a Continuing Education Instructor. These two 15-hour music courses are entitled "Music/Activities for Infants & Toddlers" and "Music/Activities for Preschoolers". She owns and operates North Side Music in Eau Claire, WI which specializes in recordings and instruments for young children. Brian "Uncle Squaty" Schellinger has been a national performing musician since 1973. He is recognized as the songwriting and multi-instrumental force behind Colleen & Uncle Squaty recordings. A former teacher of guitar, bass, and harmonica, Brian has instructed scores of young children, many of whom have gone on to be performers and entertainers, in their own right. The lyrics in Brian's songs are understood by children and adults alike, as they draw upon past experiences from childhood and how we now relate to them as adults.
