E.L.E.C.T. E-LECT (E-Learning for Early Childhood Teachers) was created by a consortium of fourteen Community and Technical Colleges in Minnesota in response to a need for child development courses to be offered online.E-LECT is an innovative training initiative in a number of ways.
Students can complete their courses from anywhere at anytime of day or night. Thirty-three courses are offered during the 2003-2004 school year over a sixteen week semester. A Child Care Administration Certificate is offered through Saint Paul Technical College and MnAEYC. The certificate courses are offered on-line using a cohort model. Grant, Concordia University's Mentoring Project, and Concordia University's School Age Professional Development Program. The first of these on-line courses will be offered Spring 2004 through Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
